I'm making a map of the World in 1914, and after finishing the British and French Empires, I uploaded it to Warlight to check everything was okay, but it's already exceeded the limit on how much memory it makes up, yet I've only done about 700 territories. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to fix the problem?

By the way, I think something's wrong with the image, it's only showing the Western Hemisphere, but you get the idea of what it's like.

1. If you have a background picture you're drawing from, get rid of it, save to a different file, and then upload that different file.

2. Use the scroll-bar?

Some possible idea's to make the map smaller
- simplify the territories with Ctrl+L
- Use draw bezier curves and straight lines option (beneath pencil button) to draw territories
- If you draw from a picture, make sure the picture is linked to the document and not added.
- you document has to be smaller than 1954 kb, it's possible to make a huge map in this range, just minimize the data of all the territories
- http://wiki.warlight.net/index.php/Inkscape_tips for more tips
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDkXmoEOggQ for an ideal way to make neat territories with low data.
- you can reduce the size with 100kb by saving the document as svg file in stead of svg-inkscape file, but do this only when your map is finished (because you cannot work on the map in inkscape anymore)
- for more tips check the forum ;)

Did you removed the image from where you got it from?

Yeah, it's just about small enough now. But the British Empire makes up about 22% of the land, and the French Empire makes about 8%, so I think I'll use Beizer Curves from now on.

Whenever I try to copy the URL, it just goes to the normal multi-player window, but here's a link to a game using the map:

Why is the Isle of Man not in the UK bonus?

It's a dependency of the UK, so it's actually part of the Union in the same way England is, for example. I may make it part the UK though, because the game would run better like that, I think.

I saw the map, I like it. When it comes to WWI maps, the one thing we lack (even though we have like 7) is that only one or two have detail. This map has good detail for a map of the world, and I believe it will be the only world map of WWI with detail.

P.S. ; Don't forget to make a WWI 1914 and 1917 distribution mode when making the map.

Looks pretty good, but there are some few minor mistakes with some of the names of bonuses in Canada.

1. It wasn't called the Domain of Canada. It was the Dominion of Canada
2. Nunavat is spelled Nunavut, and that didn't exist as a territory until 1999. It should be part of the North West territories.
3. Northwestern territories should be called the Northwest Territories.

So, this isn't "diplomacy" bonus setup, is it?

Yeah, I'll try to create scenarios for different points of WW1. As for the Canada bonus names, I corrected it from saying "Domain" to "Dominion" a while ago, but thanks for telling me about the other two things, because I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. By the way, I can't send the latest map at the moment, because I'm using the mobile version, but I'll send it to you tomorrow. It's just South America to go.

Western Katanga is missing from the Belgium super bonus. Also, some of the north Russian islands should be merged (to make it more realistic- the east north Russian islands were not as wealthy as a third of France). A lot of the sea connections are very confusing or not shown. Perhaps it would be better if it is just one line instead of many lines for the different empires. Here is a quote from 'Map Guidelines' in the Wiki: Minimize long connections or drastically uneven territory size. Finally, the super bonuses are valued too high- they should be around 1 per bonus. It would be silly if Canada steamrolled the USA just because they finished the super bonus a couple of turns earlier. Perhaps use Issander's huge world's value method.

Those bonus values probably won't be the final ones, I was considering doing it proportional to GDP or something. But I'd agree with you about the sea lines, they are bit over-the-top, I'll see what I can do to fix that.

Nova Zhemlya in Russia is not an Island but a group of 2 islands
you splitted it in 2 piece called north " and south " but actually the northeren part is called the Island of Severny and the Southern part is called the Island of Juzhny.

Also Finland has modern borders on this map, but that can't be possible because these modern borders are shaped after World war 2 (not before)

German Cameroun had territory under spanish equatorial Africa. A part of northern Gabon and French congo should be added to German Cameroun.

edit= Takimski and Tukarak are not part of Québec or Ontario but are part of North West territories. Still they're part of Nunavut today.

The Southern Island in the Alexander Archipelago in Alaska is unnamed

Bear Island is not connected with "Southern" Nova Zhemlya
