The format will be this:

Each player will need a home template. Half of your games will be on this template. Your away games will be played on your opponents template.

There will be 32 players divided into 8 groups of 4. Each player in the group plays the others twice each (6 games), once home and once away. Three points are awarded for a win.

From the group stage two players from each group, (16 players) will qualify for the knock-out phases. An ELO system will be used to separate tie breaks in the groups phase.

The knock-out phase consists of 4 rounds. In each round the players will play once at home and once away.

In the event the tie is drawn. There will be a penalty shoot out tie breaker game using the ladder map and settings with automatic distribution. To simulate the luck of penalties.

The final will be played on the ladder map with ladder settings.

Some notes

The templates used should be between 100 and 300 territories and be within the spirit of the competition. You will not be able to change your template once the competition begins. And you should post it here in advance so it can be checked by people for fairness.

There wasn't much discussion about templates in the discussion thread I'd definitely like to hear more views before we start. Penalties are included by using the auto distribution setting for tie-breaks after the group stage. I know this is unfair, so are penalties in football! You do have the chance still to win over two legs by not losing. :)

Hauptmann Knauff will be helping with making a mini ELO to divide group players who finish with the same points.

For performance over the competition I will be awarding ranking points to seed players in later competitions based on UEFA's coefficients. (minus the award for national team performance) You get seeding points for:

Group stage participation 4
Group stage win 2
Round of 16 participation 5
Quarter-finals,
semi-finals,
and finals 1
participation

Over 5 years performance this gives the coefficient. A players seeding is derived from this.

I notice Ska and Powerneg's templates are the same. If it were up to me, I wouldn't allow it as I don't feel it is "within the spirit of the competition." The settings don't seem too competitive.

I've edited it to how it should be.

The settings are very competitive, but they're also hard to grasp if you haven't played the template yet, i think that would sooner be a problem.

I'm in - Arun took the one season I was good at though so I'll need to find another template

I'm not against players using the same map ... even the same template. In football A.C Milan and Inter Milan as well as Roma and Lazio share grounds. You can also change it by using lower starting neutrals, different variations on cards, starts if you want to be a bit different etc etc.
