I'm relatively new to this game and I'm not yet familiar with all the features. I can't find any way to report a person I didn't play against. There might not be such a feature because most of the times it won't be necessary.

It isn't against the rules anyway. I forget where the rules are posted but they boil down to this: Don't go out of your way to offend people and don't use a second Warlight account in such a way that it would give you an advantage in a game.

Here's my opinion: I refuse to play against a person who names himself after somebody whos is responsible for the death of parts of my family (and from what I've heard also a few other people...)
This "nickname" offends more than half of the community, I'm pretty sure, or at least I hope so.

I do have to agree that this case isn't covered by the rules. Though you could take it as racism, there is such a thing as symbolism!
Also, is everything pefectly ok that isn't strictly forbidden? Or should there be such a thing as common sense?

Adolf is a valid name, and Hitler is a valid surname. There are probably dozens of Adolfs Hitler living right now in Austria and Germany.

There's a golden rule saying, if something is not forbidden, it is allowed.

Yes it is a valid name, however I am dubious that there are any real people with said name and also who look like that. In this case it is a clear reference to the mass-murderer.

I think that can be classified as offensive. Deliberatley offensive. To a lot of people.

The least that could be done is have a moderator/admin ask this person to change their picture.

Perhaps we should ban people who use names such as Alexander the great, Napoleon Bnonaparte, Genghis Khan...hell, go crazy, anyone who uses a historical figure who ever fought in a war or commanded an army should be BANNED...because all those people have killed people.

God, I hate people sometimes. Just black list him so you don't play with him and get over your issues.

The reason why people might find Adolf Hitler offensive is not his military ambition, it's mostly the genocide.
Plus, it's still recent history and his victims or their relatives are still around.

While it might offend people...this isn't a support group, if you want to whine about something that offends you go somewhere else.

Are you seriously comparing Hitler to Alexander the Great or Napoleon. I don't typically find many thing offensive, but something as blatant as this, with the username and picture, is very offensive and should have no place on this site. Would you be ok with the Nazi insignia as someone's picture? If you are, there's serisouly something wront with you

Just because I don't like something doesn't make me force my views on anyone. Again, if you don't want to play with him, blacklist him. And last time I checked Alexander the Great and Napoleon both killed people, enslaved nations, and destroyed lives. That was my only point, I didn't realize that one man's murder is worse than another man's murder. Also, some people would find your name offensive and make a forum post about it, just a heads up.

Napoleon had people put to the sword for simply being an ethnic group too.. He also loved to sent people to their deaths just to further his own glory. What did Hitler do? He bough an economical boom for his nation. Does that make him a good man? Of course it does. But he also committed genocide and started a war, does that make him a bad man? Yes.

What it comes down to is the intent behind his act, is he trying to offend someone? If so he should be punished but till then no.

He likes roleplaying a character. If for every instance you see a reference to Hitler you're offended you should get some counsilling, instead of inferring the other person is the one in the wrong.

I'm perfectly fine with you taking offence to a player with the username Adolf Hitler who uses a picture of Adolf Hitler but I think it's a passive offence. If he starts vocalizing any anti-semitic opinions then I think that is an aggressive offence and he is breaking the rules.

The fact remains that the guy has been inactive for like three months. He may never come back to warlight. It's beating a dead horse. This guy has never played with him and likely never will he is looking for things to be offended about. Let me see an anti-semtic chat log or something and I'd be behind banning the guy but I find Stalin (which I've seen here) and a few other historical figures just as bad as Hitler.
