Does AutoDraft still work when offline? Or do I have to keep the warzone idle on for the auto draft to apply?

the answer is a bit complicated, but basically yes.
but what really happens is that when you rejoin the map, the past is 'recalculated' and simulated in fast forward.
obviously, your idle time is important and auto draft will not draft beyond that.
