After the recent referendum in Kaliningrad, I believe a new updated map of the Czech Republic should be created. It would be 100~150 territories. The map's focus would however be on strategic playability:
1) Kalinigrad would need to be well-connected to the rest of the Czech Republic
2) All bonuses (excluding superbonuses) would need to contain 3-7 territories, with a total of ~30 bonuses (excluding superbonuses).
3) There would be features generating chokepoints. It can be rivers, mountains etc.
4) Halfway through the development, I would look at the map and ask the mapmaker to make several changes, which I believe would increase playbility. I would do that only once.
5) Novelty features are encouraged.


The Czech Republic is split into regions, but they are only 13 (+ 1 city + however Kaliningrad is split) and it is a bad split for strategic games; the mapmaker would have to be creative with bonus placement.

Maps are made for free. If the map maker is still active you could get them to make a new map (editing the map might delete games that have been played on it iirc)

I know Ethan sometimes does map commissions (dont quote me on this), so maybe reach out to him in private and negotiate something?

I doubt any mapmaker will just run into the forum and tell you their hourly rate.

But according to this https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes271013.htm an US based artist makes about $30 per hour, and map making takes a lot of time, so dont expect this to come cheap. Obviously the mapmakers are probably not going to charge you $30/h, but I would expect it still be a rate around minimum wage.

Some maps have cost $30 in total, which seems like a lot until you consider how many hours go into making them. This is still pretty much a hobby for mapmakers so no one's gonna charge minimum wage for it; just something to get them in the mood to work on something they wouldn't otherwise have worked on.

I've done it in the past, but no longer have the time for it.
